Coorg, often referred to as the “Scotland of India,” is a picturesque hill station nestled in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. Known for its lush green landscapes, misty mountains, sprawling coffee plantations, and tranquil waterfalls, Coorg is a haven for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful retreat. The region’s cool climate, rich biodiversity, and serene atmosphere make it one of South India’s most popular travel destinations.
Blanketed by dense forests and rolling hills, Coorg offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural charm. The aroma of fresh coffee lingers in the air as visitors explore plantations, take leisurely walks through spice estates, or unwind by the riverbanks. The region is also home to stunning attractions like Abbey Falls, Raja’s Seat, Iruppu Falls, and the majestic Tadiandamol Peak—the highest point in Coorg, ideal for trekking.
Beyond its scenic appeal, Coorg is deeply rooted in its unique Kodava culture. The Kodava people are known for their martial traditions, warm hospitality, and vibrant festivals. Traditional homes, local cuisine, and folk dances add a distinct cultural richness to the experience.
Adventure enthusiasts can enjoy activities such as white-water rafting on the Barapole River, nature treks through wildlife sanctuaries like Pushpagiri and Nagarhole, and birdwatching in the verdant valleys. Whether you’re sipping freshly brewed coffee, exploring ancient temples, or simply soaking in the mountain air, Coorg offers a refreshing escape into nature’s lap.
